10 Things You Wish You Didn't Know About Your Cornocopia

There's very little to say as of yet. The day has pretty much just begun and I'm still trying to interpret the few things that have happened thus far. Will advise.

The last few days haven't been that interesting. Last week was fun. I did stuff. I hung out. That was about it.

During the weekend I bought some stuff at IKEA so now my room looks a lot more organized.

And tomorrow I go down to San Diego to pick up my brother's car...which will then be mine. And I will drive home.

I'm gonna load up on energy drinks, snacks, and other items to help keep me awake and I will drive and drive and drive.

Then I will have a car. Whomp.

Anyway, I'll post again later. I'm outa news.

My characters Ernie (left) and Bob (right) are in Russia.  They're on their way to work. yay work!

SPlurT!

This blog right here is something I linked to in my birthday post. It's porn. In writing. Written porn.

Other than that it's been a really slow day. I'm still working on the brochure for my program but it's coming along at a snail's pace. I've been very distracted today.

You're Not Quick Unless You've Been Sleeping in Arthur J. Hodson Dining Commons

Nothing much is happening today.

If you're bored, choose a snack!

I finished the letters today, thanks to Ahniwa, and I'm mailing them this afternoon! woot.

I've realized I can only take so much pop music before my head explodes.

Now I'm working on a brochure for our program. It's looking good so far but publisher sucks ass. I really need some other kind of program to do this with. I've found a bunch of really cool brochures online, but there really isn't any way to draft a tri-fold brochure in publisher without using a template. I hate microsoft, NPR, and pepsi.

Now I'm probably labeled a terrorist in some sort of weird database somewhere managed by rabid space monkeys.

I know it's Tuesday now, but you gotta check this guy out.

Have monkey, will travel.

Now I must go home and tumblebus my evening into action. ACTION!

101 Ways to Build a Pure Sandwich

Joe and Monkey is a good comic. The archives are easy to read and the comic is pretty random. Just to keep with the Monkey Monday theme.

My day has been pretty...boring. It stayed beautiful outside and I'm thankful for that. But everything else was just kinda...blah.

Right now I'm listening to NPR and trying not to get anything done.

I have no clue where this link goes. I didn't click on it and I hope you don't either. I cannot vouch for its authenticity or the substance of the page. And though I'm very curious as to its contents, I'm at work and can't risk getting in trouble. If you find out where it goes, let me know.

Thanks.

Oh yeah, you remember Pacos Tacos? Well I had an enchilada from there. I enjoyed it. But I tried it at a catered event so I still haven't been to the restaurant.

P.S. I think I meant to say "insane" instead of "inane" in my last post. But "insane" isn't the right answer either.

Curious George, the Troubled Transportation Theorist

So I've had too much coffee already this morning. I'm happy.

I just finished the final draft of the letter I'm supposed to write as an introduction to our 200 some odd host families. I'm gonna have to sign all of them, personally. WHooo! I'm sure there are ways around this, but honestly, since this is the first letter to these people, I figure that I should give them the genuine article.

Anyway, how y'all doin?

This weekend was inanely laid back. The girlfriend and I washed her car in the sunshine on Saturday then went and rented movies, went to a bbq, a concert, then passed out.

Yesterday our friend Dan came into town and we played Civ for HOURS. Luckily, Adam brought beer and I bought pizza so that was all good. That lasted all day long. I passed out at about 11pm, tired as all hell.

But now I'm doin' alright.

You must see this. Now. Improve your punctuation. This from the guy that brought you HOW TO DANCE! and HOW TO DATE! (I like installment 4)

So where's your monkey? IT'S MONKEY MONDAY!!! WHOOO!

More later.

BORN 2 ROFL

So my new favorite web-comic was a sleeper that I didn't even know about until about a week ago. Overcompensating is about as random as it gets, but any comic where the main character has a shirt that says, "Bring ODB back to life", rocks.

So this week has pretty much flown by. It didn't feel like it while stuff was happening, but now that it's pretty much over it feels like it went fast.

I built a power point presentation.

I wrote a letter to our host families.

I went to a scout meeting and a school board meeting.

I listened to lots of pop music on the radio.

I created hip-hop lyrics about gin loving badgers.

And I spoke to a crowd of thousands on the topic of tax cuts for the incredibly bored.

But it's the weekend now so it's all good. PHEW!

I need to get crackin' on the tumblebus thing. I'm supposed to send the guy something this weekend and I didn't even scan the drawings I've done. I should do that on Saturday. Tomorrow. Will I have the motivation?! I don't know!!!

I realized today that I'm a radio surfer. Even if there's a good song on the station that I was listening to, I'll change it because there has GOT to be something better on somewhere else that I'm missing. Will I ever be happy?! I don't know.

So Ahniwa has sold his sole to the man and bought himself a c.e.l. phone. I don't know what happened but he cracked.

Actually I know exactly what happened but I'm really in no mood to write about our Qwest right now.

I think I'm addicted to energy drinks. I can't seem to get through the afternoon without one.

Alright, I gotta go. Have a good weekend!!

Entertaining the world since 19...o'clock.

Here is another gem. Is your girl too shallow? It's a quiz for yourself, but I'm sure it works on others.

Everything's better with CHEESE!!

MSN scores another hit with a valentine's day repeat!

Today was good but was kinda...bleh.

It started out with me getting here about a half hour early and prepping a presentation on volunteer opportunities for our international students. Then at 8am I went to the class and gave a 5 minute pep-talk.

Then I shuffled papers on my desk.

Then I went to a meeting from 9:30am until about 11:30am.

The first thing we discussed was the dress code. I'm wearing a polo shirt and a pair of khakis with Doc Marten shoes. My boss said it was ok but looked shady about it. The code is casual so I guess that means something else. Oh well. I think I look professional.

Then we talked about a more professional looking office. I think that just means I need to make my desk cleaner. I dunno.

Then I was given my to do list:

1. Build a Power Point presentation for a Staff/Faculty luncheon.

2. Contact the college president and have him write an e-mail encouraging people to host our students.

3. Contact our current host families and develop a network.

4. Contact our Alumni department and see what they can do to help me find host families.

That was it. So then I went to lunch and picked myself up a Poloroid camera for work. That's gonna be fun. Purchase requesting rules.

Then I spent the afternoon e-mailing my contacts. Good times, good times.

Now I'm about to get off and have a stiff drink that I need desperately.

I hope you guys are having a great day! The sun is shining through my window and I'm almost outa here so you know I did!

When waxing your eyebrows just isn't enough

MSN Today scores another direct hit with its DATING DO NoTS!

I break those rules every day. Especially pointing out other attractive people in the room.

Today was great! I know it's only the second day on the job, but I'm getting a lot done and doing what I think is great work!

I've written two or three letters and now have permission to send e-mails to all Staff/Faculty here at the college. Along with the permission, here was what my old boss said in his email:

"Done. You now have the power to annoy thousands of users at the click of a single button."

HEHE!

Anyway, right now I'm working on a project for a few of our Japanese students who were going to stick around for spring break.

Two of the students were going to go up to Vancouver, B.C., but I changed their minds and they're now going to Victoria. I found out the cost of taking the bus to Seattle then the ferry out to Victoria and the kids really liked the idea.

So while those to ship off to our northerly neighbor, I'm in the midst of finding host families for the other two. That's a bit harder. I'm sending out a mass e-mail tomorrow to all the people who work here on campus to see if any of them can host an exchange student for a week. It shouldn't be a serious problem finding someone, but it is fast aproaching (within a week) so I'm kinda nervous.

Other than that it's been a pretty slow day. I'm looking forward to just sittin' back with a brewski and chillin'.

I like this quote:
"Thanks for what, Jim? Thanks for being man enough to bear up to the curse of my overpowering machismo?"

That's definately me.

And here is an article on CBS.com about machismo in metrosexual terms.

HRO stands for monkey

Yeah, so this full time job thing rocks. I have my own cubicle finally and with my contacts in the IT department I was HOOKED up with an optical mouse, speakers, and a new keyboard. From Office Depot I got a new calendar and a bunch of notepads.

I'm now drafting an email...or rather I'm supposed to be. I'm actually sitting here updating my blog. Heh.

Today was kinda frantic. I woke up late, by like an hour and a half, and barely made it to work at all. But once I was here and cleared up any confusion that was happening, I got to work clearing up a work space and getting things ready for the week.

I was told in my interview that I would need to find host families for 90 kids over the summer. That's only half as scary as it sounds, I just found out, because we double the kids up in homes. So actually I need to find 45 families.

That would still be daunting if it weren't for the fact that MOST of those families will only get a kid for a weekend.

So the only real problem I'm going to have is to get together a list of 15 host families who can host a pair of kids for 2 weeks. I don't see this being a serious problem though.

Anyway, it's like almost 5pm which is quitin' time. Hope y'all had a great time!
