Sing a song os six-pence...

It's so strange how something can be built up in one's head for quite some time and then suddenly, one day, you realize that no one else felt quite the way you did. It's a let down. Whether the thing is good or bad, it's always a let down.

Oh well.

The strange brew is on. I'm exhausted and have to play pinochle tonight with 'the guys'. Gerald said he may not show up tonight so it'll just be four of us. I'm not sure that I enjoy taking the game that seriously and I really think that Tim isn't into cards at all and just shows up to hang out. That's definately not a condemnation; on the contrary, I would love to have that style: do things just because they could be fun. What sucks is when he does things with us out of a sense of responsibility. I'd hate to make him feel like that. Hmmmm. We'll see what happens.

So my office is currently filled with a computer that my boss is rebuilding (by herself) for a friend of hers. The problem with this is that the hard drive is pretty much fried. She doesn't see it like that and keeps trying to problem solve it. I tried to tell her once that it just wouldn't work (it keeps telling her THE partition is dead but she just thinks that means it needs to be cleaned) but she didn't listen at all and then snapped at me. She's been pissy for quite some time. Dunno what's goin' on there.

I'm so fucking TIRED! guh.

Well, that's about it for now. I'll probly post more either tonight or tomorrow. We'll see what happens. For now I'm stuck behind a desk with no computer and nothing to do. Wheee! I always thought that I'd enjoy a job where I didn't have to do anything but in all honesty, it sucks.

The Hitchhiker's Guide to East Djbutti

'sup? Haven't talked to or seen you in FOREVER!

Well not much has been happening but I've kept myself busy.

I've been teaching, swing dancing, watching tv, playing video games, smoking, drinking, carrying on, listening to music, walking everywhere my short little legs will carry me, and not updating my blog!

The History of the Gingerbread Circus

I have a McGriddle and half of a Philly Cheesesteak sandwhich in the fridge left over from Breakfast and lunch respectively. I'm just not in touch with my inner stomache any more.

The Power of the Arctic Terrier

My boss is a pissy bitch. There, I said it. And I mean it. She's crazy and has me doing absolutely mudane activities for seemingly no reason. I'd like to think that all the hoops I'm jumping through have a greater good at their root but after taking into consideration her level of overall intelligence I must admit that any hope is fading fast.

You're Not Clean Unless You've Been Speaking in Algiers

So yeah, swing dancing is fun! I started off by going for the open dance on Tuesdays and just doing the half hour free lesson before hand, but now I've signed up for the Lindy Hop lesson that's an hour and a half every Tuesday. It's crazy hard, but SOOOO much fun! I really need to work on my detection of the beat though. The more tired I get the worse my timing gets.

It's a Bird! It's a Plane! No, It's Captain Hook!

So, I can't update a blog but I've decided to participate in NaNoWriMo. Basically the idea is to write a novel in a month. That's 50,000 words or about 5 pages a day. I believe I can do it but we'll see. As I said, I can't even update this blog on time!

When Kermit the Frog Was a 357 Magnum

Oh my god...the girl who works in the office next to mine just walked by and tossed me the most sultry, devilish grin! I think I might be able to die happy now! This got me thinking, what is it about a smile from someone you're attracted to that can melt a person? This happens to me on a regular basis and I'm at a complete loss.

The Obvious Relationship Between Tractors and Broadcasting

I think the only person who knows this i my mom and Amy herself, but I'm planning on heading down to Alabama for Thanksgiving. Amy invited me and I REALLY want to see her so if my paycheck is anywhere near the size I belive it will be, I'm off! Whee! I can't wait!

The Making of the World's Largest Sauve Troubled Monkey

So thar she blows, the end of this post. I hope you've enjoyed the entertainment and hopefully I will write again soon! Take care of yourselves and each other.

Splish.

Wow, it's been like 6 days since I've posted. This is not fair to my loyal fans. I'll try to be more prompt and even post on weekends. For now, I have to go do some work. I'll catch y'all up later.

Peace

When dinner time came, I was surprised again

And so the saga of who love who best continues. The squirrels are up 10 points.

I can't seem to get on track with that schedule I layed out earlier this week. For those of you keeping score at home the score is: Schedule 200, Me 10 (only because I drew for 30 mins yesterday...all while at work).

The office politics here really are astounding. I feel like I'm caught in one of those mouse-wheel-cage-spinny things. Except there's a rocket pack strapped onto my back. With duct tape.

And yes, Lucie, you definately are high on the list of things I miss about France ;) I hope Morocco's still treating you well!

There are a few things I really want to talk about, but not here and DEFINATELY not now.

My boss is a queen bitch. There, I said it. She actually answered the phone today, "ITS princess. How can I help you?" I almost fell out of my chair. As if the christian music she plays all day wasn't bad enough...

I can thoroughly appreciate 'the good word' as it were being sung. But there's a time and a place. And while this is actually a catholic school, there is a level of professional courtesy that should be upheld. While super skinny, ex-alcoholic, girly-boys with goatees sing about their love of jesus, I am expected to complete work orders and be happy. I have the utmost respect for anyone's faith, but come on! Why is she torturing one of the two agnostics on campus?!

In all fairness, I haven't actually brought this point to her attention. I really hate instigating conflict (despite my team name when I play Beer Pong: Team Instigation. Call some people, start some shit, then kick some ass!) and I have a feeling that this whole "I hate your goddam music!...no pun intended." just won't go over too well. It's really a good thing that I'm not a conflict resolution manager.

Burger and fries again today. And a slice of pizza. I was extra hungry.

I really want to learn how to ride a motorcycle. I think it'd just be all kinds of cool. Specifically the kind of cool that I haven't yet experienced. It's that kind of cool that i need more of.

The wierdest thing has been happening today. Every time I look up I catch another group of giggling girls staring at me as they pass by my door. I went into the bathroom and there's nothing on my face, my clothes are clean, and my fly is zipped. Maybe I'm just that damn cute...!

So yeah, yesterday I went and sat in on my old French teacher's class. t'was fun.

I'll love christ forever. Please shoot me now.

Wow, it amazes me how it's always the WRONG girls who are wearing tight outfits around here! The fit, cute girls tend to wear more baggy outfits and the curvy girls are the ones wearing the tight spandex. I kinda wish there were some kind of fashion counselor who would pull them aside and remind them that no matter how much they've been told by their mother that they're attractive, it's a load of b.s. and they need to dress more toward their body type. I'm not dissin' on overweight girls. Being overweight can sometimes be out of your hands and lord knows I have my share of vices...

hang on. < sing >I wanna sing a song for you, OH LORD, I wanna sing a song for you, oh JESUS!< /sing > That just needed to be sung out loud. Sorry. We now return you to your regularly scheduled rant.

...but really, there are so many ways to dress around the fact that you're a bit pudgy. The point is: It's ok to accept who you are, it's ok to be proud of it. Just don't FORCE it on other people. I try to be considerate with my smoking and yes, sometimes I smoke in the wrong place and/or at the wrong time, but you'll never see me lighting up in the library. I really wish the big girl sitting on the lounge chair looking at me like I'm the anti-christ would be just as considerate with her choices in outfits.

< sing >And I praise jesus, every morning lord, because that's what I'm made for, right down to my core.< /sing > WHAT SELF-RESPECTING PERSON WOULD SING THAT?

Alright, I'm outie. Take care of yourselves and remember, do unto other as you would have them do unto the monkeys.

This is a day that has not gone as planned

From the outset today has been really weird.

I woke up a little bit late today and then as I was putting out my clothes I fell back asleep. I skipped my French class and then missed the bus so I was late for my American Culture class. Full of glee.

So yeah, now I'm sitting at my desk playing that damned paintball game and reading back issues of comics that I've already read. And doing some drawing. Sometimes I really do enjoy this job.

What a beautiful day! The sun is shinning, there's a slight breeze blowing through the trees, makes me want to pull out my skateboard and hit up the park. Of course, I would need a skateboard to call mine...and some mad skillz. I have neither right now. huzaa.

I need to start drinking more water.

And playing more video games.

I'm gonna go get a haircut today! I should get a tattoo...

That j-pop stuff is really getting stuck in my head. Any song with the line, "You're eazy-breezy and I'm japan-easy." is an instant classic in my book.

Jeannette needs more yellow toner for her color printer.

Last weekend I watched two of the Die Hard movies. Good films.

2 more hours to go. Whooop!

It's been two years that I've worn the same earrings. I think that with my next paycheck I'll get some different ones. It's about that time.

Anyway, I'm gonna go read Penny Arcade.

Kill your television, y0.

KILLER KIMONO!

'sup y'all?

So yeah, it was a short weekend. Too short in my opinion.

Why can't I get Columbus day off too?! I think that I deserve to celebrate the 'discovery' of the Americas by sitting on the couch playing video games.

I've replaced two disk drives today, installed Flash player 7 on a computer in the lab, talked to the French teacher here about France, flirted with the hot girl next door (<--that's I lie. I should have tho!!), and I played a flash game of office paintball. What a day!

I had a burger for lunch that's still fighting for its life.

My grammar students failed their English test on Friday so I got to have a review lecture and chewed them out. Haha! Ninjas in training are so cool, but bad at English grammar.

I downloaded some J-Pop last night. Good stuff. My students had heard of the artist. Hilarious.

So yeah, I drew for the first time in two weeks today and I swear, with each little break I take I get better and better.

I realized this weekend that I drink too much. And don't do enough work. AND don't get enough sleep. So to remedy this, I've developed a schedule:

9am-5pm - work
6pm-7pm - relax
7pm-8pm - grade papers
8pm-8:30pm - draw
8:30pm - 9 - relax
9pm-10pm - read
10pm - 6am - sleep

I have a feeling this might work out. The second relaxing time could be used to go out to Evergreen and exercise, which I need to start doing, but we'll see.

Anyway, all my drinking will be confined to Friday and Saturday nights. You know, excepting all special occasions. Birthday, Barmitzfas...things like that.

Well I gotta go teach little kids how to read. I hope y'all are having a fantastical monday and I'll write again tomorrow! WHooooeeeeooooHAAAH!!

Oh #%^$&!!!

KERPLUNK!

Alright, along with the counter came a tracking device that watches all of you. Now I don't mean to scare you, but I really like seeing where you all come from! Somebody is checking my blog all the freakin' time and it's poppin up as coming from covad.net. I have no idea what this means or where you are, but hey that's cool...I'm just curious.

Anyway, the last two days have been junk. All junk, all the time.

I taught French this morning. Hah.

now I'm supposed to be working. But it's not working. Hah.

Something that was posted on the Last Word Books (an independant bookstore here in Oly) really got to me. It was about open sourcing popular software and how this could lead to the downfall of the U.S. economy.

The big problem with this is that the big software may not be completely open sourced, but you can find the hacks to ANYTHING already online. So what's the issue? It hasn't caused the downfall of western capitalism. I'm a whole-hearted capitalist and listening to these people who think that our system is fragile as a crystal vase just makes me laugh.

The other point that bugged me was the idea that the U.S. government uses hackers to wage an 'internet war' on the rest of the world. Within the U.S., the government has done horrible things. Janet Reno was the worst attny. gen. that we've pretty much ever seen when it comes to individual rights because with her last days in office she started the mass email tracking system that sorts through almost all emails looking for keywords. Nobody but the FBI knows what these keywords are but copies of the emails contain these words are supposedly shunted into a special 'in-box' where they collect dust until an agent has a chance to look at 'em.

Now, this isn't right, but it's hardly an out-bound attack by U.S. trained hackers. On top of that, almost all the hackers I've ever met, though that number may be limited, have been anarchists. That does mean they hate the U.S. government, right? Now that would be irony Alannis.

Alright, I gotta fo gix a computer.

Keep yo chili-dog on ice!

Je Suis Seul Au Monde

I've been listening to French music this morning in a sick and tired fit of nostalgia. I miss France more than I ever thought I would.

Yup, that's right, it's been a little over a year since I started teaching at my school in Allonnes, France. I miss it horribly. I also miss Nat and Amy, my two best friends while I was there. It pains me that I have such a hard time with keeping in contact with people these days.

I really have nothing else to post about. I wish that I'd spent the time while I was sick drawing, but I didn't.

Anne-Marie gave me a papazan chair, you know, those big bowlie chairs that you sit in, not on. I think I may put that in my room and then put the cool lamp that I got at IKEA in over the chair. At least until Ahniwa moves his boxes from the livingroom ;) hint hint

(It's such a BEAUTIFUL Washington morning!) (<--shhh! it's a secret!)

Alright, I'm taking off to do other things now.

I'll try to post again later...but we'll se how that goes.

GROS BISOUS!

Tea is for heroes

So yeah, Sick is the word of the day.

On wednesday night/thursday morning I stayed up all night. I was awake for 24 hours. I have no good reason for this other than I'm kinda stupid.

So yeah, I was "sick" on Thursday but then, Thursday night, I actually DID get sick!

So saturday I was feeling a little better so I went up to IKEA to get some furniture, I came home, did some drinking, and then yesterday felt like shit again.

Now I'm sitting on my new couch, watching my television that now sits on my new entertainment center. Life's good.

But I miss France. It's now been over a year since I went to France.

What do I miss?

the language
the people
the shots of coffee
Le Kentucky
my school
that sly french grin
the music
the way that french advertisements comandeer english words
my friends
French cinema
long walks through Vieux Mans
Crepes
darts

there's more.

Right now I'm making chicken noodle soup and drinking tea. I've still got a couple episodes of 24 that I need to watch.

Morocco sounds fun!

Va Savoir is an interesting Film but a bit too long and not in surround sound.

So...the x-box is fantastic. Just need more games.

I REALLY need to move to Paris. I seriously live in the wrong city.
